This picture made me laugh, it sums up quite nicely the ridiculous amount of 'stuff' that us runners sometimes take out with us, well I know I do, especially if it's a long run I always have my phone, keys, sweeties, tissues, pound coin ( I was a girl guide), water and not forgetting my Garmin.
Today I set out with the plan of running at least 5 miles to ensure I crossed the two week mark at similar mileage to last week. Today was also 'try and get over 60 miles day'. I was greatly cheered about a mile in to see a runner on the opposite side of the road, not only make eye contact, smile but also mouth 'Hi' and wave. Oh my goodness, runners round here will often make eye contact and some cheery souls will smile and very few will say anything. However this guy, who I've seen round the town running before (he lives above the TESCO metro store) was a step ahead, he really made me smile! He always looks pretty hardcore, has great running outfit and was sporting some amazing yellow headphones- I know have headphone envy. It did make me smile, running along in my marathon finishers t-shirt with my emergency tracksuit top tied round my waist, I hardly look hardcore when I run.
The thing is with Juneathon, it's a friendly community of exercisers, so when you're out running the streets you imagine every other runner to be as friendly as the ones you've met on line, sadly that's not the case. It's such as a shame as a cheery wave and a smile do wonders to boost your morale when your out running.
I ran 6 miles in the end, in 58 mins, it was getting hot by the time I arrived back home and I really didn't need to take a tracky top with me, I'd drunk all my water, felt hot and tired, but so excited to have crossed over the 60 mile point! My personal goal for Juneathon was to beat my Janathon mileage of 93, so at 60 I'm well on the way! Yipee!
Tomorrow am heading into Uni for a Stanmer Stagger run and then a session in the library, have gone a bit stir crazy at home all day today!

Well done again Jo, cracking effort. I found it uncomfortably hot in Pizza Hut this afternoon! Doh..
ReplyDeleteGreat picture!! And good to know I'm not the only one who always takes a jumper with me, just in case, that never actually gets worn! ;)
