Juneathon is here! After a bad night, calf cramp at 3am, I set out to run a few miles. I took Martin Yelling with me as he is very encouraging and doesn't put up with my moaning. 39 minutes of interval training and 4 miles later, my Juneathon had begun.
I'm also breaking in a new pair of running shoes, my first new runners for a year! I know, how very bad and naughty of me! They were a lovely, lovely gift and despite the lack of pinkness, they are incredibly light and well fitting, I think I am going to love them.
I'm excited about the Juneathon challenge ahead, mostly about how much cake I can eat with all that running! I am undecided if I should go alcohol free...I was thinking of going caffeine free but by 10am, that thought had left the building! I am definitely going to do some light kettlebells before bed time everyday and try the 100push up challenge again!!!
My blog will contain a little psychology soundbite everyday, just to warn you, you can switch off at that bit if you're still reading!
So, aims for the month.
1. Run every day and cycle when I can.
2. Survive and pass 6 psychology exams.
3. Lose some weight.
4. Eat cake.
5. Drink less coffee
6. Try the 100 rep challenge again.
7. Be ready for marathon training to commence in 3 weeks!!!
Good luck to everyone trying the challenge, be it running, walking or Olympic style hoovering: to be more active can only be a good thing.
Psycho blab:
Regular running at a reasonably good pace increases your learning capacity. A study with 3 groups, 1 high impact runners,1 group low impact runners, 1 control no exercise, found that the high impact runners had 20% faster vocabulary learning rate than the other groups :o) (Winter et al.2006).
Miles run today: 4
Total miles run:4
Nice daps. :D I'm trying the 100 pushup challenge again too... it's the most difficult thing I've ever done. With running you just have to get out the door but with pushups you have to consciously put another effort in for every single rep. Ouch! Good luck with everything and welcome back. :)
